Planet DDS buys Cloud 9 Software

Planet DDS, a cloud-based dental software supplier, has acquired Cloud 9 Software from KKR, an investment firm focused on software and tech-enabled enterprises.

According to a press release from Planet DDS, the addition of Cloud 9’s expertise in paediatric and orthodontic practice management software enables Planet DDS to continue expanding as a multi-specialty dental software platform.

Planet DDS to improve single-vendor solution

With the help of Cloud 9, Planet DDS will be able to offer a more robust single-vendor solution to aid in the expansion and operational success of practices with both single- and multi-specialties.

“The addition of Cloud 9 Software deepens our understanding and ability to serve the unique needs of orthodontic and paediatric care practices,” said Eric Giesecke, CEO of Planet DDS. “Our consistent growth and leadership in cloud-based dental software has always been rooted in our ability to anticipate the needs of our customers, and we are thrilled to welcome Cloud 9 and its experienced team who will help us continue this mission.”

Support from Level Equity and Aquiline Capital Partners

Both Level Equity, a private investment company that specialises in lending money to rapidly expanding software and technology-driven businesses, and Aquiline Capital Partners, a private investment company that makes investments in both financial services and technology, are supporting Planet DDS. The sole financial advisor to KKR and Cloud 9 was Lincoln International.
