Candulor Releases XPLEX Denture Base in Disc Form

Candulor, a dental prosthetics company, has introduced the XPLEX Base denture base material in a new disk format for CAD/CAM-supported fabrication. According to a press release, this innovation will provide dental laboratories with enhanced options for customization and caters to the preferences of technicians.

The XPLEX denture base material is a high-impact polymer designed to accommodate various laboratory processes and requirements. It can be utilized for both hot and cold polymerization, offering versatility in packing, pressing, and pouring techniques. The key advantages of XPLEX according to the manufacturer include high impact strength, excellent flow and modeling properties, strong bond to denture teeth, good polishing characteristics, esthetic appearance, low plaque adhesion, minimal discoloration, easy dosing, and ease of grinding.

Choice Between Analog and Digital Processing

With the availability of the XPLEX Base denture base disks, technicians can now choose between analog and digital processing methods. For analog processing, the traditional dual-application high-impact polymer and the respective hot or cold monomer components can still be utilized. For digital fabrication, the XPLEX Base denture base disks have been specifically developed.

The XPLEX Base denture base material disks are available in three shades (1, 5, and 34), corresponding to the existing XPLEX denture materials.

The XPLEX Base denture base material reportedly exhibits improved physical properties, including high fracture resistance. Compared to conventional PMMA materials, the fracture resistance of XPLEX Base is significantly increased, says Candulor. Additionally, this material is said to have low discoloration and plaque adhesion, excellent polishability, and a strong bond to denture teeth.

TCR Mono and Multi Disks

In addition to the XPLEX Base disks, Candulor is also expanding the TCR family with tooth-colored disks. The combination of the TCR Mono and TCR Multi disks, along with the XPLEX Base denture base material, enables the milling of individual dental arches, tooth segments, and denture bases.

For optimal bonding of milled or prefabricated denture teeth to the milled denture base, the use of XPLEX Bond is recommended. XPLEX Bond is a PMMA-based autopolymerizing composite specifically developed for this family of materials.
