Dental Protection Partners with 32Co to Improve Clear Aligner Therapy

Dental Protection, a dental indemnity company, has announced a collaboration with 32Co, a dentist-led clear aligner workflows organisation. This partnership aims to enhance patient outcomes while mitigating risks for dentists. It is the first-ever collaboration between a clear aligner company and a dental indemnifier, marking what the companies expect will be a significant milestone in the field of dentistry.

Raj Rattan MBE, dental director at Dental Protection, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to partner with 32Co, a company that is revolutionizing the dental industry. We recognize that clear aligners are becoming increasingly popular among patients and dentists alike, but they also pose significant challenges and risks if not done properly.”

Prolonged Clear Aligner Cases

According to a press release, a recent study revealed that the average clear aligner case often requires twice the number of aligners initially anticipated, resulting in prolonged treatment times and frustration for both patients and clinicians. Traditional one-day courses have often been a source of disappointment for dentists, leading to the need for additional unplanned aligners.

Professor Ama Johal, clinical education lead at 32Co, highlighted the importance of clear aligner training. By incorporating the latest learning design principles and a mentorship program into the 32Co technology, dentists reportedly experience a remarkable 92% increase in confidence and significantly fewer clear aligner cases requiring refinements.

“Dentists told us how disappointed they were with the one-day courses they were offered by traditional aligner systems. We believe this is a contributor to patients needing additional unplanned aligners and inspired our educational philosophy: clear aligner training should be personalised, practical, continuously evolving and free,” said Professor Johal.

Dr Sonia Szamocki, founder of 32Co, emphasized the shared vision of empowering dentists to provide safe and effective clear aligner therapy while reducing risk and enhancing patient satisfaction.

“We believe that clear aligner orthodontics is not just a plastic device, but a service that requires proper training and support. That’s why we created 32Co, a platform that provides everything dentists need to succeed with clear aligners,” explained Dr Szamocki.

Prioritized Access for Dental Protection Members

As an immediate benefit of the partnership, Dental Protection members will receive priority access to 32Co‘s flagship training. The Clear Aligner Stretch Course, a comprehensive four-week certification program accredited by Continuing Professional Development (CPD), strives to improve the clinical confidence and workflow of existing providers, leading to better clinical outcomes.

For practice owners seeking to train new providers, the Clear Aligner Starter Course offers an equally rigorous program that is said to enable associates to safely treat patients within six weeks. With over 500 dentists already trained by 32Co, Dental Protection members will be at the forefront, securing access to each newly released course date. Additionally, members can leverage the 32Co Platform, which facilitates direct collaboration with specialist orthodontists for every case.

This partnership between Dental Protection and 32Co hopes to bridge the gap between clear aligner therapy and risk mitigation. Through personalized training, continuous support, and an evolving educational approach, dentists can enhance their skills, improve patient outcomes, and reduce potential risks associated with clear aligner treatments.
