DEXIS IOS Solutions Expands Digital Dentistry Offerings and Launches IS 3800 Wired Scanner

DEXIS IOS Solutions, a part of Envista‘s global family of dental brands, is expanding its digital dentistry offerings with new end-to-end workflows and has simultaneously launched the DEXIS IS 3800 wired scanner. 

The company’s objective is to support dental practitioners in accelerating their workflow. With a focus on ease of use, productivity, and practice expansion, DEXIS IOS Solutions aims to provide comprehensive solutions for dental professionals.

Digital End-to-End Workflows

The new digital end-to-end workflows are designed to allow practitioners to expand their range of services, including aligner and denture treatments, as well as in-house printing. This expansion aims to offer patients personalized and innovative care. Concurrently, DEXIS IOS Solutions is developing prescriptive workflows in collaboration with Ormco Spark™, starting with a new orthodontic workflow that enables practices to incorporate aligner therapy into their treatment options.

A new Patient Engagement application within IS ScanFlow enables practitioners to show patients a simulated outcome of their orthodontic treatment, allowing them to visualize the treatment outcome chairside. The integrated digital transfer of datasets to Ormco Spark streamlines the process, enabling patients to promptly initiate treatment.

DEXIS introduces DEXIS IS Intraoral Scanning Portfolio

Collaboration with SprintRay 

According to a press release, DEXIS IOS Solutions has also collaborated with SprintRay™ 3D printing ecosystem to simplify in-office printing and make same-day restorations a reality. SprintRay Cloud Design leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline the design of crowns, appliances, and surgical guides within minutes. Dental practitioners can scan the patient with any DEXIS intraoral scanner and upload the dataset directly from DTX Studio™ Clinic or IS ScanFlow to the SprintRay portal, eliminating the need for manual file selection and redundant patient information entry.

By combining DEXIS intraoral scanners with SprintRay’s ecosystem, dental practitioners can reportedly offer same-day delivery of crowns and appliances, increasing their productivity and attracting patients seeking fast and convenient dental treatment.

Introduction of IS 3800 Wired Scanner

To further enhance the capabilities of the DEXIS IOS Solutions portfolio, the company has introduced the DEXIS IS 3800 wired scanner. At just 190g without the cable, the DEXIS IS 3800 is said to be one of the lightest intraoral scanners available. 

The DEXIS IS 3800 wired scanner offers high-speed performance, similar to the IS 3800W intraoral scanner, and provides dental practitioners with control of functionality right on the handpiece, reducing the time spent switching between the screen and the patient, says the manufacturer. It derives its power directly from the computer through a USB Type-C connection, meaning there is no need for additional power cables.

Efficient Dual Arch Scans

With a reported scanning time of 25 seconds for a single arch, the DEXIS IS 3800 enables efficient dual arch scans and frees up time for focusing on patients. The scanner offers three styles to optimize scanning comfort, and the tips can be autoclaved up to 110 times, reducing consumable costs and ensuring proper sterilization. 

Additionally, the DEXIS IS 3800 handpiece features an embedded sensor that allows dental practitioners to orient the digital model on the screen by simply rotating the scanner, without the need for a mouse. The scanner can also automatically detect the shade of the enamel and provides an automated multi-layer shade report to identify the ideal match.

These latest enhancements by DEXIS IOS Solutions aim to provide dental practitioners with access to intuitive technology that simplifies and streamlines treatment. The expanded ecosystem and diverse range of new treatment options allow practitioners to partner with Envista for access to prescriptive end-to-end workflows or choose more open workflows that facilitate collaboration with their preferred lab or manufacturer.
