Faculty of Dentistry at UGM to Hold Free Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery

Indonesia: The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) and the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing (FKKMK) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) are organizing a free cleft lip and palate surgery for the public.

The event is set to take place on March 4, 2023, at the UGM Soedomo RSGM.

Improving Quality of Life

The free cleft lip and palate surgery initiative was started by the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist and Anesthesiology study program in collaboration with RSGM UGM Prof Soedomo.

This program aims to improve the quality of life of Indonesians by providing necessary medical care.

Community Service Activity

The Head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist Program at FKG UGM, Cahya Yustisia Hasan, stated that this free cleft lip and palate surgery was a community service activity organized by the Faculty of Dentistry 15th Lustrum and the 77th Anniversary of FKKMK UGM.

He also mentioned that this activity is a form of dedication and a small step that is expected to make a big contribution to the future and lives of sufferers, their parents, and their families.

Multi-Faculty Involvement

The Dean of FKG UGM, Suryono, praised the event for its multi-faculty involvement.

He stated that the involvement of all academics, alumni, and the wider community in this activity is vital to achieving the spirit of building the country’s health.
