Female Students Top Punjab’s MDCAT 2024

Record-Breaking Results Announced by University of Health Sciences

PAKISTAN: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has released the results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024, revealing outstanding performances and record-breaking scores. The announcement, made on Friday, has shed light on the achievements of thousands of aspiring medical and dental students across Punjab.

Unprecedented Top Scores

In a remarkable turn of events, two female students have jointly secured the top position in the MDCAT 2024. Zainab Munir, daughter of Munir Ahmad Qadir, and Iqra, daughter of Muhammad Azam, both from Lahore, achieved an astounding score of 199 out of 200, equivalent to 99.50%. This near-perfect score sets a new benchmark for excellence in the MDCAT.

High Pass Rates and Participation

According to a UHS spokesperson, the exam saw a significant turnout with 56,519 candidates participating in Punjab alone. The results indicate a high success rate, with 48,051 candidates securing more than 55% marks, and 51,018 achieving over 50%. These figures are particularly noteworthy given the PMDC regulations, which stipulate a minimum passing mark of 55% for medical admissions and 50% for dental college admissions.

Transparent Examination Process

Prior to the results announcement, UHS Vice Chancellor, Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore, addressed the university staff, expressing his gratitude for their role in conducting the MDCAT. He emphasized the transparent and peaceful nature of the examination process, stating:

“UHS managed the examination with transparency and in a peaceful environment, thanks to Allah Almighty for this achievement.”

Prof Rathore’s comments highlight the university’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the admissions process.

Recognition of Staff Efforts

In recognition of the hard work and dedication of the university staff, Prof Rathore announced an honorarium. He praised the collective effort, saying:

“The dedication and teamwork of the faculty, staff, and students have been commendable.”

This gesture underscores the collaborative effort required to successfully conduct such a large-scale examination.

Accessibility of Results

For candidates eager to check their results, the UHS has made them available on their official website at www.uhs.edu.pk. This online accessibility ensures that all participants can quickly and easily obtain their scores.

Implications for Medical Education

The high pass rates and exceptional top scores in this year’s MDCAT suggest a bright future for medical and dental education in Punjab. As these successful candidates prepare to enter their chosen fields of study, the healthcare sector in Pakistan can look forward to a new generation of highly qualified professionals.

The MDCAT, conducted on 22 September, continues to serve as a crucial gateway for aspiring healthcare professionals, ensuring that only the most qualified candidates enter the medical and dental fields.
