Gyeyang-gu Launches “Children’s Dental Care Project” for Adolescent Students’ Oral Health

Korea: Gyeyang-gu, a city in Incheon, South Korea, unveiled its new initiative, the “Children’s Dental Care Project,” on the 23rd of July. The primary objective of this project is to prevent oral diseases among adolescent students in the region.

Free Oral Health Services

The project specifically targets 5th-grade elementary school students, a crucial period when permanent teeth are emerging. Under this program, eligible participants can reportedly access a range of oral health management services completely free of charge.

These services include comprehensive oral examinations utilizing x-ray tests, engaging oral health education, and the application of fluoride to enhance dental protection. Additionally, the project offers the possibility of receiving tooth fillings, known as “silent fillings,” and tartar removal services based on the dentist’s recommendations.

Gyeyang-gu authorities also plan to distribute oral hygiene kits to the participating children’s schools. This proactive measure aims to empower students to continue maintaining their oral health autonomously, promoting a sustained impact beyond the project’s duration.

Convenient Sign-Up

For easy access to the services, interested individuals can sign up by completing a questionnaire on the dedicated smartphone app, “Dentii.” Once registered, they can proceed to book appointments at designated dental clinics.

The “Children’s Dental Care Project” will run until December 9th, providing a window of opportunity for eligible students to benefit from the program. With an emphasis on fairness, the support will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring equal access to the services for all eligible participants.

As Gyeyang-gu launches this comprehensive dental care initiative, it sets a commendable example for prioritizing oral health among young students, ultimately contributing to the well-being and future of the community.
