Komet Introduces FQ Endodontic File System for Efficiency and Flexibility

Komet, a dental instrument manufacturer, is preparing to unveil its latest endodontic file system, the FQ. Reportedly designed to offer enhanced efficiency, flexibility, and longevity, the FQ joins Komet’s existing range of endodontic systems.

Highlights of the FQ Line

This rotary, heat-treated file system was designed by Komet to cater to the needs of endodontists seeking optimal efficiency in root canal treatments.

Double-S Cross-Section and Tapered Core

The variable tapered file core, with its double-S cross-section, is said to offer maximum flexibility and efficient debris removal. Its tapered core also has the benefit of providing more space for efficient debris removal.

Additionally, the FQ offers a range of files tailored to suit the specific tooth anatomy of each patient. The pre-bendable files reportedly provide a comfortable, cutting-edge, and secure working experience for dental professionals. According to a press release, the FQ exhibits high cyclic fatigue resistance, minimizing the risk of file separation.

Dr Satya Nadimpalli, Endodontic Product Manager at Komet USA and an experienced endodontist, highlights the advantages of this unique design, stating, “[The FQ] optimizes root canal preparation time by helping unclog apical debris with its double-S cross section and variably tapered core.”

Heat-Treated Nickel-Titanium

The heat-treated nickel-titanium composition of the FQ is said to minimize the risk of file fracture due to its resistance against cyclic fatigue. This unique attribute not only enables better access to root systems but also reduces the likelihood of canal shifting and ledge formation.

Versatile and Customisable System

According to Komet, the FQ’s versatility lies in its ability to save time during root canal treatment, thanks to its well-coordinated instruments that facilitate a clear base sequence. Moreover, the system allows for customization, enabling dental professionals to create individualized file sequences based on the specific requirements of each canal anatomy.

With the launch of the FQ, Komet has made the decision to discontinue two of its previous offerings, the F360 and F6. By introducing this new endodontic file system, Komet aims to provide a comprehensive and advanced solution for endodontists, aligning with their evolving needs and preferences.
