SOUTH KOREA: Seoul National University Dental Hospital has taken a significant step toward expanding its reach in the global healthcare arena. The hospital recently convened a kick-off meeting on the 10th in its conference room, marking the initiation of an international medical business intensive consulting project aimed at attracting foreign patients.
This pivotal meeting is part of the 2023 GHKOL (Global Healthcare Key Opinion Leaders) International Medical Business Intensive Consulting Project, orchestrated by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.
Among six esteemed institutions, Seoul National University Dental Hospital stands as a key participant in this initiative. Present at the meeting were Yang Il-hyung, Director of the Planning and Coordination Office, Park Ji-woon and Kim Ji-eun from the Future Development Promotion Team, and International Business Director. H&C Consulting’s Managing Director Cho Hyun-joon assumed the role of lead consultant, alongside experts from Seoul Asan Medical Center, Seoul National University Hospital, and Director Chae Gyeong-joon of UAE Sky Dental Clinic, who lent their insights and guidance.
Focused Consulting and Strategic Expansion
The outcome of the meeting outlined Seoul National University Dental Hospital’s strategic focus for the consulting project. The hospital intends to engage in an in-depth consulting process that centres around two primary aspects: 1. Sharing information on the current status of medical tourism and the health industry in Middle Eastern countries, and 2. Preparing strategies to attract patients from Middle Eastern countries. This concerted effort aims to enhance the hospital’s appeal to a broader international patient base.
Director Lee Yong-moo expressed his enthusiasm about the hospital’s role in advancing global dentistry. He stated, “As a national central dental hospital, it was a meaningful occasion to think about the direction to promote Korea’s cutting-edge dentistry to not only Koreans but also foreign patients.” He reiterated the hospital’s commitment to support and strengthen its international competitiveness from a mid- to long-term perspective.
Forward-Looking Approach
In a bid to position itself as a destination for high-risk dental surgery, Seoul National University Dental Hospital’s Foreign Clinic has taken strides to attract patients from West Asia (the Middle East). Through this initiative, the hospital aims to establish a network for high-risk dental surgeries in the region, complemented by state-funded patient support for a three-month duration. The project will also explore innovative ways to publicise these efforts, ensuring their visibility and accessibility.
In summary, the kick-off meeting for the international medical business intensive consulting project underscores Seoul National University Dental Hospital’s commitment to not only advancing dental care but also enhancing its global presence. The collaboration with healthcare experts and the strategic approach laid out in the meeting set the stage for a promising future in attracting and serving international patients.
