Smile in a Box: Accessing the Straumann Workflow for Implant Dentistry

With Smile in a Box, dental practitioners can now access the Straumann digital workflow without the need for additional investments in hardware or software.

According to a press release, Smile in a Box is a flexible and digital treatment planning and manufacturing service that aims to empower dental practices to expand and develop. This outsourcing service reportedly offers enhanced patient acceptance and access to digital dentistry, without requiring additional investments in hardware or software.

Gaining Access to Straumann Workflow

By opting for Smile in a Box, dental practitioners gain access to various aspects of the integrated Straumann workflow, allowing them to provide a wide range of treatment options, says the company. This modular service enables practitioners to select the specific components they require to meet their patients’ needs. The process begins by submitting a case to the Smile in a Box team, followed by the completion of an order form and the uploading of relevant data.

The Smile in a Box team then plans the implant treatment, which can be reviewed and approved during a live online session or, if preferred, the practitioner can create the treatment plan themselves. Based on the agreed plan, the team proceeds to create surgical guides and/or temporary restorations, which are then submitted for approval. Additionally, Smile in a Box offers CAD/CAM production and delivery of all treatment components to the dental practice in a single package.

Flexibility to Treat a Range of Cases

Smile in a Box is said to provide dental practitioners with the flexibility to address a wide range of cases, spanning from single-tooth scenarios to complete edentulism. This expanded treatment capability aims to reduce the need for practitioners to refer patients to external specialists, allowing them to provide comprehensive care within their own practice.

Dental practitioners using Smile in a Box can also access the implant portfolios of the Straumann Group, enabling them to choose from implant systems such as Straumann, Neodent, and Anthogyr to best suit each patient’s requirements.

The flexibility offered by this Smile in a Box allows practices to grow and adapt their business without significant investments in in-practice equipment, says the press release. Smile in a Box allows dental practitioners to retain control over the treatment process while outsourcing specific stages.
