Praveen Arany, Associate Professor of Oral Biology at the University at Buffalo (UB), has been honored with the T.H. Maiman Award for Excellence in Dental Laser Research by the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD).
The award was presented to Dr Arany during the ALD’s annual conference held in April. It recognizes his outstanding contributions to clinical translational research in the field of lasers in dentistry, particularly in the area of photobiomodulation, a form of light therapy. Photobiomodulation has the potential to revolutionize clinical dentistry by providing evidence-based treatments that promote precision and individualized care.
Arany’s Achievements and Contributions
Arany’s impressive credentials include a doctorate in biological sciences in dental medicine from Harvard University. Throughout his career, he has focused on the clinical translation of biological mechanisms for wound healing and tissue regeneration. His work as an assistant clinical investigator at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, part of the National Institutes of Health, has further bolstered his expertise.
The ALD recognized Arany’s contributions, highlighting his extensive research portfolio comprising over 150 scientific publications. Notably, his recent collaboration with the National Institute on Aging, a division of the NIH, has further enhanced his reputation as one of the leading experts in the field. Arany’s contributions extend beyond research, as he has also held leadership positions in various organizations, including serving as the past president of the World and the North American Associations for Photobiomodulation Therapy.
