Ito Ultra-Short Wave Co has released the Reclean 24/7, billed as an ultra-short wave, pulsed ultrasonic toothbrush.
According to Ito, the ultrasonic toothbrush was developed based on the clinical data of dental hygienists and dental clinical experts, and provides users “close to dentist office level of oral cleaning at home”.
“Reclean 24/7 ultrasound allows you to easily take care of oral hygiene at home, which demands more than simply brushing your teeth,” said Prof Takashi Matsukubo, Professor Emeritus, Tokyo Dental College. Prof Matsukubo was one of the clinical consultants involved in Reclean’s product development.
The ideal oral environment, the company claims, can only be achieved with ultrasonic waves.
Reclean 24/7 is equipped with both ultrasonic and sonic vibration features. The ultra high-speed vibration of 1.6 million times per second is inaudible to humans. It weakens the adhesive force of plaque such that the biofilm fails to stick to the oral environment. In addition, the water flow generated by ultrasonic waves and sonic vibrations are gentle on the teeth and gums.
“It is an ultrasonic toothbrush that has been optimized for effectiveness through redesigning many of its traditional functions and properties, such as improving the tips of the bristles,” said product supervisor, dentist and dental hygienist, Dr Akane Takenouchi.
Reclean 24/7 is said to have approximately twice the power of conventional continuous ultrasonic waves. According to Ito, the adoption of “pulse type” technology is more effective on plaque removal and allows the user to polish areas where the tips of toothbrush bristles typically find hard to reach.
Designed with a well-balanced arrangement of tapered tips and flat bristles, the Reclean 24/7 toothbrush is said to achieve 20% more plaque removal at the tip ends.
The dual-bristle brush head with moderate steps is purportedly able to scoop out dirt lodged between the periodontal pocket and the teeth – something that conventional bristle tips cannot achieve, Ito Ultra-Short Wave Co claims. Ito Co. Ltd. was founded in 1916 and has a history of more than 100 years as a pioneer of physiotherapy equipment. The company has developed and manufactured a number of products for overseas markets, beginning with the ultra-compact low-frequency treatment device “Doctor Pulse” in 1977. The company’s commercial equipment are exported to over 100 countries around the world.
