Upgrade 4.4 of Amann Girrbach’s Ceramill Software Enhances Dental Milling Workflow

Amann Girrbach, a digital dental prosthetics company, has released Upgrade 4.4 of its intelligent Ceramill software, which is said to offer dental laboratories and practices a wider range of capabilities, streamlined workflows, and enhanced process safety.

According to Nikolaus Johannson, Head of the Global Business Unit Lab CAD/CAM at Amann Girrbach, “The latest software upgrade provides users with numerous new features and additional simplifications in their daily workflow. We support our customers to enable them to create higher-quality restorations even more easily, quickly, and cost-effectively.”

Highlights of Upgrade 4.4

The latest upgrade includes various improvements and new scanning options to the Ceramill Map, Ceramill Mind, and Ceramill Match 2 systems.

C-Clamp Blank Holder

The C-Clamp blank holder is one of the notable new features introduced in Upgrade 4.4 for the Ceramill Matik. According to a press release, this feature enables better accessibility in the anterior tooth region, resulting in excellent milling results. It reportedly eliminates the need for reworking connectors, saving time and significantly enhancing convenience.

Overdentures and Angulated Screw Channels

Upgrade 4.4 introduces bar overdentures as a new indication, simplifying the fabrication process and improving process safety. Additionally, angulated screw channels for titanium implant work offer greater esthetic design freedom and enhanced flexibility in finishing, says the company.

The upgrade also introduces the Diamond Finish milling strategy for composite blocs, which is said to offer maximum precision and excellent surface quality. Moreover, the software now enables the adoption of tooth shapes from old dentures when fabricating new full dentures.

Scanning Modes and Materials

The upgrade also includes the introduction of Zolid Bion, a zirconia that combines esthetics, function, and speed, according to the manufacturer.

There is also a “Free mode” scanning function that is designed to enhance flexibility, allowing users to freely select the scanning sequence as well as the option of using a “Dark Mode” display for reduced eye fatigue in low light conditions. The extended “Comprehensive Scan” strategy reduces the need for manual rescans, and pre-op scans can now be combined with full denture impressions.
