Product: Zipbond Universal Adhesive

Zipbond Universal is a single-component, fluoride-releasing universal adhesive from SDI.

Compatible with self etch, selective etch and total etch techniques, the adhesive material is said to “achieve successful bond strengths across dentine and enamel using self etch and total etch techniques”.

According to SDI, Zipbond Universal has minimal fluctuation in bond strength using the total etch technique on enamel. It purportedly overcomes the challenges associated with dentine bonding – its heterogenous nature, along with variability in mineral and water content, adds complexity the bonding process. The chemistry of Zipbond Universal is said to provide strong and reproducible bond strengths in self etch and total etch techniques.

The fluoride-releasing material, SDI says, is compatible with self-etch, selective-etch and total-etch techniques. Besides protecting the tooth-restorative interface against demineralization, the fluoride provides an effective marginal seal to fight recurrent decay.

Similar bond strengths can be achieved when applied to wet and dry dentin thus reducing technique sensitivity, says the company – “even in situations where dentin is over-dried, the adhesive forms a hybrid layer”.

Zipbond Universal contains two adhesive monomers – a proprietary combination, including the MDP monomer – which makes adhesion effective on enamel, dentin and a range of indirect substrates.

Featuring nanofillers for optimal film thickness and increased bond strength, Zipbond Universal is also easy to apply in a homogenous thin layer.
