Amann Girrbach Introduces Ceramill DRS Software Upgrade 1.5

Amann Girrbach has unveiled the Ceramill DRS Software Upgrade 1.5, bringing an array of enhancements, expanded indications, and streamlined workflows to the chairside CAD/CAM solution. The upgrades encompass improvements to the Ceramill Map DRS, Ceramill Mind DRS, and Ceramill Motion DRS software platforms.

Simplified Software Management

The Ceramill Software Manager, a new addition to the upgrade, simplifies the installation and updating of the Ceramill DRS software. Users will now receive automatic notifications of available upgrades and a comprehensive overview of all the new features.

Enhanced Scanning with Ceramill Map DRS

The update to the Ceramill Map DRS scanning software boosts the system’s intraoral scanner with improved speed and scanning performance. A redesigned user interface features user-friendly icons, and the 3D scan display color has been enhanced.

“Optimized algorithms enable smarter and faster scanning, resulting in a smooth scanning process without waiting periods. This enables even less experienced users to achieve precise results,” explains Robert Rosiak, Senior Product Manager Business Unit Clinical CAD/CAM at Amann Girrbach. The update allows for easy duplication, switching, erasing, or locking of scanning planes.

Milling Machine Advancements with Ceramill Motion DRS

The Ceramill Motion DRS milling machine, with this software update, gains access to enhanced milling strategies and compatibility with a wider range of materials. The mill can process all block materials with universal mandrels and offers both validated and generic milling strategies for various materials.

“This offers users maximum flexibility. Validated strategies are possible for selected manufacturers and materials, and generic strategies are thus possible for all others,” says Rosiak.

Streamlined Abutment Workflow

The software update introduces the Ceramill DRS abutment workflow. Users can design and mill screw-retained crowns and two-piece individual abutments using the Ceramill Mind DRS M-Plant upgrade module. This solution works with multiple implant systems, including validated libraries from Medentika and Tri-Implant Matrix, along with exocad-signed libraries.

With the new workflow and the Zolid DRS sintering material, a screw-retained molar crown can be produced in approximately 25 minutes and sintered in 30 minutes.

“In-house production not only increases speed but also results in enormous cost savings – while ensuring maximum precision and quality,” says Amann Girrbach Senior Product Manager Business Unit Clinical CAD/CAM Elena Bleil.

User-Friendly Innovations

The software update also provides access to the Artex CR virtual articulator, adjustment of abrasion facets for more natural restoration design, color visualization of free-form areas, and the addition of the partial crown indication. These enhancements aim to make the software more user-friendly and minimize reworking of restorations in the patient’s mouth.
