India’s aligner startup launches new app

India: Direct-to-consumer dental-tech startup Snazzy has launched new technology that delivers complete aligner treatment.

The Hyderabad-based company released what it claims is India’s first Scan Box and Monitoring App. Offered free-of-charge to dental clinics upon registration, the app is said to deliver a complete aligner treatment to their patients with an aim to ensure full patient compliance.

Full visibility of aligner treatment

Snazzy’s Scan Box and Monitoring technology is designed to give dentists and staff full visibility of treatment throughout – along with the improvement of communication between both.

In addition, the app purportedly gives dentists the ability to increase the frequency of a patient’s follow up, by proactively addressing concerns with non-compliance, and reducing patient inconvenience.

According to the company, the majority of all invisible braces treatment remain unfinished. Through the free app, the startup aims to achieve transparency between the clinician and patient in order to ensure full patient compliance in aligner treatment. The software tool will also be able to automatically track the weekly aligner treatment progress.

“We believe that dentists and orthodontists should be able to automate and virtualize everything outside of the clinical side of care and at the same time create a more connected and convenient patient experience,” said Dr Raj Shekhar, Lead Orthodontist at Snazzy.

The Snazzy aligner process

Snazzy is a dental tech startup that offers direct-to-consumers invisible aligners that are manufactured in-house.

A typical case starts with the patient visiting the Snazzy office for a 3D scan and no-obligation consultation. The patient will be then be set up with a dentist near their preferred location.

Snazzy will arrange for an orthodontist to design the patient’s smile. The aligners are fabricated and shipped directly to the patient’s home address. Customer support is provided via teledentistry, hence no visits to the dentist office will be necessary. Last year, the dental start-up raised $2.2 million in a funding round from YCombinator, Form Capital, Goodwater Capital, and ANIM Fund.
