Robot-Assisted Dental Implant Placement: Landmark Study Highlights Unprecedented Precision

A groundbreaking clinical study conducted by Dr. Jay Neugarten, an esteemed figure in implant dentistry, has unveiled the remarkable accuracy and precision of robot-assisted dental implant placement.

The study, titled “Accuracy and Precision of Haptic Robotic-Guided Implant Surgery in a Large Consecutive Series,” was recently published in The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants.

Unmatched Precision

Dr. Neugarten’s research, based on 273 robot-guided endosteal implants placed over a two-year period, showcased unparalleled levels of accuracy and precision. The study revealed that implants deviated from their planned angulation and depth by less than 1.5 degrees and 0.2 mm, respectively. This level of precision far surpasses that of other implant surgery methods, including static guides and freehand placement.

Dr. Neugarten emphasized the critical role of accuracy in implant dentistry, citing potential aesthetic issues, intraoperative complications, and reduced implant longevity associated with inaccurate placement. He expressed his conviction that technologies delivering such exactness should be seriously considered by clinicians.

The Role of Yomi

Robot-assisted implantation is made possible by the Yomi system, developed by Miami-based startup Neocis®. The Yomi platform combines virtual planning with haptic guidance during surgery, enabling dental professionals to execute implant placement with unprecedented accuracy and efficiency. To date, over 47,000 implants have been placed with robotic assistance.

Alon Mozes, CEO of Neocis, hailed Dr. Neugarten’s study as confirmation of Yomi’s unmatched accuracy and precision. He expressed confidence that this data solidifies Yomi as the new standard of care in dental implant surgery.
