India: The 2023 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NRIF) rankings for Indian dental institutions were unveiled on Monday, June 5, by Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, the Minister of State for External Affairs and Education.
Several dental colleges have maintained their positions from the previous year with Saveetha Institute, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Dr D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, and Maulana Azad Institute retaining their respective 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place rankings.
Ranking Parameters for Evaluation
The NIRF Rankings are determined based on a set of five key parameters that assess the overall performance of dental institutes. These parameters include:
Teaching, Learning & Resources: This criterion evaluates the strength of students, faculty-student ratio, faculty qualifications, financial resources, and their effective utilization.
Research and Professional Practice: It takes into account the publication records, quality of publications, intellectual property rights, patents, project involvement, and professional practices.
Graduation Outcomes (GO): This parameter assesses the university examination results and the number of Ph.D. students who have successfully completed their programs.
Outreach and Inclusivity: It considers factors such as the percentage of students from other states or countries, representation of women and economically or socially challenged students, facilities for physically challenged students, and perception rankings.
Peer Perception: This parameter reflects the opinions of academic peers and employers regarding the reputation and quality of the dental institutions.
