Event: 27th Dental South China International Expo & Conference 2022

The 27th Dental South China International Expo & Conference 2022 will be held from 2-5 March, 2022, at the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex, Guangzhou City, China.

First held in March 1995, this event is said to be the pioneering dental exhibition in China. According to the organiser’s estimate, China is home to approximately 110,000 dentists and 110,000 dental lab technicians. With a dentist-population ratio standing at 1:12,727, there is obviously enormous room for growth in the dental profession.

That said, the ratio was 1:100,000 in the 1980s and 1:50,000-60,000 circa 1990s. The gap has already been closing at a rapid rate – albeit still some ways to go before reaching a sustainable balance.

The Guangdong province alone has an estimated 10,000 dentists, rising by roughly 6.5% per year. The province also happens to be the largest trade and consumption centre for dental products in the entire country. With a provincial population of 100 million, Guangzhou has been picked to host the world’s largest exhibition — China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) – twice yearly for over 50 years!

While not as behemoth an event, the Dental South China International Expo & Conference is no slouch. Last year’s outing, held in the same venue, covered a massive exhibition area of 55,000 square meters, attracted more than 850 exhibitors and approximately 60,000 visitors. Local and foreign exhibitors include: Upcera, Kavo, Dentsply Sirona, AIDITE, Carl Zeiss, Runyes, Ajax, Besmile, Trausim, Straumann, Ivoclar Vivadent, A-dec, Zimmer Biomet, etc.

And if you think DSC 2021 was just a huge exhibition, it needs to be said that more than 200 professional seminars – yes, that’s 200 with two zeros – were held during the event.

Almost 300 subject experts were on hand to present the high-powered forums offering advanced clinical treatment techniques, efficient practice management case studies and cutting edge technological displays. A variety of panel talks, symposiums and workshops took turns at the well-apportioned physical podiums even as an online exhibition platform – Webchat E-Show – took dental live-streaming to the next level.

As a gauge of what to expect, the organisers are predicting a similar exhibition and conference this year, in so far as the scale, floor size, exhibitor and visitor numbers are concerned. In addition, DSC 2022 will divide their academic conferences into designated zones such as: “Management Forum”, “Special Symposium on Dental Techniques” and “In-Depth Training Class”.
