Voice AI Eases Administrative Burden for Rural Health Providers
In a significant development for rural healthcare providers, voice AI technology is being deployed to alleviate the administrative burden on clinicians. Suki, a voice AI assistant for healthcare, has announced that several Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs) are now utilising their technology to streamline clinical and operational documentation processes.
The impact of this technology has been notable, with over 250 U.S. health systems and clinics reporting an average reduction in documentation time of 72%. This has translated to a substantial decrease in after-hours work, with clinicians saving nearly six hours of ‘pajama time’.
Dr. Leslie McNaughtan, a family medicine specialist at Utah Navajo Health System, highlighted the transformative effect of the technology, stating, “Suki is a game changer; for my personal sanity.” She added, “Suki has alleviated my administrative burden to the point where I feel like I can continue practicing medicine.”
AI and NLP Enhance Cultural Sensitivity in Mental Healthcare
In an effort to improve cultural attunement in mental healthcare, Mpathic, an actionable conversation analytics vendor, has secured funding from the National Institutes of Health to test AI and natural language processing (NLP) technologies. The project aims to analyse provider-patient appointment transcripts to enhance cultural sensitivity in healthcare interactions.
The research, titled “Empathy for Everyone: Generative AI that Improves Patient-Provider Cultural Attunement in Real Time,” seeks to address the disparities in mental healthcare access and quality for marginalized communities. Dr. Sarah Adler, founder and CEO of Wave, emphasised the significance of this project, stating, “It’s about creating tools that enable us to see each patient more fully and meet them where they are, with respect, humility and understanding.”
Healthcare Platforms Prioritise Cybersecurity with New Certifications
As the healthcare industry continues to embrace digital transformation, cybersecurity remains a critical concern. Several healthcare technology providers have recently obtained important security certifications, demonstrating their commitment to data protection.
TruCare, a value-based care platform, has achieved HITRUST Risk-Based, two-year Certification and SOC 2 compliance. Similarly, 1upHealth’s FHIR data aggregation platform received HITRUST one-year certification validation.
Symplr, an enterprise healthcare operations software provider, has also made strides in cybersecurity. Saeed Valian, symplr’s chief information security officer, stated, “Our Secure by Design pledge, SOC 2 attestations and HITRUST recertification for symplr solutions underscore our dedication to preventing and protecting against future threats by safeguarding sensitive data, recognizing that healthcare systems cannot afford disruptions.”
These developments reflect the growing importance of cybersecurity in healthcare, as providers and technology companies work to safeguard sensitive patient data and maintain the integrity of healthcare operations.
