India: The Army College of Dental Sciences (ACDS) organised an endo-marathon on Saturday to celebrate National Cons-Endo Day.

The event was held to raise public awareness about endodontics, conservative dentistry, restorative dentistry, and oral health.

Faculty and residents perform 202 root canal treatments

To mark the occasion, the department’s faculty and residents performed an impressive 202 single-visit root canal treatments on 55 patients.

The event was a one-of-a-kind programme and involved 14 doctors who were supported by junior postgraduate students, interns, undergraduate students, and non-teaching staff.

Patients included ex-servicemen and those on waiting list

The patients treated during the endo-marathon were a mix of ex-servicemen and regular patients who had been on the waiting list for some time. Dr Mamta Kaushik, head of the department of conservative dentistry and endodontics, said, “We had been planning the event for about 10 days.”

The event was inaugurated by Brig. K. Somashankar, Chairman of ACDS and officiating General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area. Also present were members of the Dental Council of India, Dr Pramod Kumar Gandra and Dr G. Vikram Reddy, along with faculty and students of ACDS.
