Columbia Dentoform Announces Surgio: The Hyper-Real Implant Surgery Partner for Dental Education

Columbia Dentoform, a subsidiary of DENTALEZ, has recently launched Surgio, a surgical manikin that offers a realistic experience for dental and continuing education (CE) students. Surgio reportedly provides students with a true-to-life implant surgical experience that accurately simulates bone densities for both novice and advanced students. The manikin is compatible with all major manufacturers’ implant systems and provides hands-on access to procedural applications.

Realistic Feel for Practicing Implant Surgery

According to Columbia Dental, Surgio offers students a unique opportunity to experience true-to-life implant surgery without the need for costly and cumbersome cadavers. The manikin system provides a real feel for soft tissue cutting, bone exposure, implant placement, suturing, and post-operative implant restoration.

Surgio is the only surgical and restorative mannequin system that offers extraordinary realism for procedural accuracy on various sites, says Columbia Dentoform, including non-aesthetic and aesthetic implant restoration, moderate full-arch removable restoration, advanced full-arch fixed restoration, and advanced sinus augmentation and implant-supported 3-unit bridge.

Director of Sales, International and Special Markets Carlos Martinez says, “Our manikin will work in tandem with your customers’ curriculum milestones while retaining the flexibility to adjust to specialized preferences.” The Surgio manikin system is priced to fit within traditional curriculum budgets and may be the most cost-effective upgrade that dental schools and CE programs can offer to differentiate their programs.

Easy Set-Up and Clean-Up

According to a press release, Surgio can be easily mounted to a bench or a dental chair and has a drain plug and tube in the throat region for easy cleanup of dust and debris when drilling.

It offers students the experience of working within the confines of a normal oral cavity with lifelike soft tissue that rebounds and protrudes, like true labial and lingual tissue. Students can get tactile and physical experience cutting bone, placing, tightening and loosening implants, even suturing and performing post-operative restorative work.
