Dental Assistant Face Charges for Alleged Molestation of Young Patients

USA: A 27-year-old dental assistant from Mesa, Arizona, named Deion Alexander Garcia, has been charged with 10 felony counts of exploitation of a minor and five felony counts of molestation of a child, according to court documents. The alleged offenses were committed at Garcia’s workplace, Kidiatric Dental & Orthodontics, located at West Chandler Heights Road and South Arizona Road in Chandler.

Parental Report and Child’s Account

On May 8th, the parents of a 6-year-old girl reported to Chandler police that their daughter claimed Garcia had touched her inappropriately and taken photographs of her unclothed during an X-ray scan at the dental office. In a subsequent forensic interview on May 9th, the child revealed that while Garcia was scanning and photographing her teeth, he “started bugging” her and touching her inappropriately, even placing his hand under her clothes and taking pictures with his cell phone.

Police conducted a data extraction on Garcia’s iPhone, which revealed 10 photos of the alleged victim and a second 4-year-old girl. The images, determined to have been taken by Garcia’s device at the dental office, included the first alleged victim’s genitals. One set of images was captured on May 8th, the same day the first girl claimed she was molested, while the images of the second alleged victim were taken on May 9th, a day when records showed she had an appointment at the dentistry.

Additional Concerning Findings

During the data extraction process, Garcia refused to provide his passcode, which limited the forensic analysis. However, the extraction uncovered sexualized, animated images of children on the device. It remains unclear whether Garcia is still employed at Kidiatric Dental & Orthodontics, as representatives from the Chandler and Gilbert locations were unavailable for comment.

Disturbingly, “part of the extraction included sexualized, animated images of children,” according to court documents. Garcia refused to provide his passcode during the data extraction process, limiting the forensic analysis.

The girl’s parents revealed a concerning detail – “Garcia returned with the girl after 15 minutes with the girl acting ‘differently,’ documents stated,” suggesting a potential change in her behavior after being alone with the dental assistant.

The charges against Deion Alexander Garcia are deeply concerning, and the alleged exploitation and molestation of vulnerable young patients is a grave breach of trust. As the investigation unfolds, it is crucial that authorities handle this case with utmost care and sensitivity, ensuring justice is served while protecting the well-being of the alleged victims.
