Dentist Accused of Poisoning and Killing Wife Faces New Charges

USA: Prosecutors have filed new charges against an Aurora, Colorado dentist accused of poisoning and killing his wife. James Craig, who previously pleaded not guilty to murder charges, now faces two counts of solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence.

“From March 18, 2023 to June 15, 2023, Craig is accused of reaching out to at least one person and ‘attempted to persuade’ them to tamper with physical evidence,” according to court documents.

Alleged Poisoning and Cyanide Purchase

Craig is accused of fatally poisoning his wife Angela’s protein shakes with arsenic and cyanide in order to pursue an affair. Investigators say he ordered potassium cyanide with expedited shipping after his wife survived the initial arsenic poisoning attempt.

“Craig also allegedly Googled questions such as, ‘Is Arsenic Detectable in Autopsy,’ before investigators believe he put arsenic in a protein shake for his wife.”

Authorities believe Craig’s dental practice was on the brink of bankruptcy and that he was having problems in his marriage at the time of the alleged poisonings. His business partner, Ryan Redfearn, told police that Craig had ordered potassium cyanide, even though it was not needed for their work.

“Redfearn also told investigators that James Craig was on the verge of bankruptcy and had been having problems in his marriage, according to the document.”

Craig’s trial, originally scheduled for April 2024, has now been rescheduled to begin in August. The new charges of solicitation to tamper with evidence add further complexity to the case as prosecutors build their case against the dentist.
