DIO introduces UV Activator2

Korea: DIO, a Korean dental implant company, has introduced what it calls the next-generation surface processing system called UV Activator2.

The original UV Activator, which debuted in 2019, turns the SLA-surface processed titanium surface into hydrophilic in nature. This is achieved by removing a diverse range of organic impurities adsorbed onto the surface through photo-radiation processing.

The UV Activator2 is recognized as the next generation surface finishing method with both advantages of the dental titanium surface processing method researched for execution at processing unit, and the acquisition of hydrophilicity of the surface advantageous for osseointegration.

20 minutes to 20 seconds

According to DIO, the system drastically reduces the “UV Irradiation Time” from 20 minutes to 20 seconds by perfectly supplementing the UV ray penetration, absorption, and losses of the existing system.

The UV Activator2’s utilization is simple and efficient, DIO says, and it activates one fixture per cycle. The system comes in two colours (Pink/Blue) and is equipped with an On/Off button, a Thorough 360˚ degree cylinder of UV light, a Dry UV-C wavelength, a Start button, and a Door button. Its size is 6.9” X 10.3”X14.2”, and it weighs 13.2 lbs. The recommended UV exposure time is 20 seconds, and the power consumption is 160W maximum.

Enhances the titanium surface’s hydrophobicity

By hydrophilizing the surface through the removal of organic substances such as hydrocarbons, the system enhances the titanium surface’s hydrophobicity, making it advantageous for osseointegration.

The high-power UV lamp of the system irradiates the titanium surface thoroughly, resulting in a clear difference before and after UV irradiation. With a short investigation time of just 20 seconds, it is easy to use and can cope with variables appearing in the surgical process.

New Paradigm in Digital Care Environment

The UV Activator 2 is a part of the UV implant system that has already been verified through various related papers and clinical cases.

In 2019, UV Implant seminars were held nationwide, where several clinical cases were disclosed, proving the value of the UV implant system and the UV Activator 2.

The system’s practical know-how was also disclosed, and the ‘Hybrid Digital Treatment System’ using two digital systems, DIOnavi and UV Implant System, attracted visitors’ attention as a precautionary treatment to lower implant failure along with fast osseointegration.

Solution to limitations in surface processing of implants

According to DIO, UV Activator2 provides a groundbreaking solution to the limitations in the surface processing of implants. The photocatalytic action removes all organic compounds, rendering the surface hydrophilic.

The technology’s effectiveness has been confirmed through several clinical research articles and case reports, highlighting its advantages in implant placement and bone integration strength.

The UV Activator2 is a surface processing system that an efficient and cost-effective solution to the limitations in surface processing of implants, ultimately improving the success rate of osseointegration.
