Elevate Oral Care Introduces Povi•One Oral Antiseptic

Elevate Oral Care, a manufacturer of oral care products, has recently unveiled Povi•One™, a 10% Povidone-iodine oral antiseptic. The antiseptic comes in unit-dose, flow-through applicators, which is meant to ensure precise control over the dosage of this potent antiseptic agent.

Unit Dose Application Kit

Povi•One is a user-friendly unit dose application kit, containing 10% povidone iodine. Each kit comprises six flow-thru applicators, with a dosage of 0.45 ml of 10% PVP-I in each applicator. The product is available in a case containing 12 units, offering a reliable supply for dental practitioners and patients seeking enhanced oral care.

This kit is specifically designed to facilitate the administration of the initial dose in the dental office, while the subsequent doses can be applied at home, extending the benefits of the treatment beyond the dental clinic, says the manufacturer. The frequency of application is to be tailored to the individual’s risk level.

Antiseptic Properties of Iodine

According to a press release, Povi•One proves to be a game-changer when traditional fluoride treatments fall short in addressing oral health concerns. This oral antiseptic harnesses the antiseptic properties of iodine to eliminates harmful germs.

Povidone-iodine, a widely recognized antiseptic commonly used for disinfecting skin, wounds, and mucous membranes, exhibits a profound impact on bacteria.

One of its notable effects is the reduction of glucan production, a crucial element in the creation of polysaccharides. These sticky substances are responsible for facilitating bacterial adherence to teeth, and by hindering their production, Povidone-iodine in Povi•One can reportedly help to prevent the colonization of harmful bacteria.
