Product: ergo magnifying loupes

Admetec released ergo, the ergonomic custom-made magnifying loupes that is said to allow longer working hours with maximum comfort and concentration.

Incorporating a lightweight design, offering six magnifications – 3.0x, 4.0x, 5.0x, 6.0x, 7.5x, 10x – ergo magnifying loupes are designed to prevent back and neck pain while helping the user achieve improved results.

By deflecting the optical path of the loupes 45 degrees down, ergo’s ergonomic structure lets you maintain a neutral head position while tending to the patient. This, according to Admetec, helps prevent common dentist complaints of neck and back fatigue that stem from Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

Among the most common work-related problems reported among dentists, MSDs are the injuries and disorders affecting muscles, nerves, ligaments, joint cartilage, tendons, or spinal disc.

Each lightweight ergo loupe, weighing about 45-55g, may be custom made to meet the specific ergonomic and visual needs of dentists, surgeons and hygienists.

According to the company information, the average weight of an adult head is 4.5-5.4kg – at standing and seated positions. When the head is tilted, the load on the neck can reach up to 27kg, which can potentially add undue stress, leading to premature wear and tear of intervertebral discs.

Long work hours, coupled with an unnatural head position, can further exert extreme pressure on the entire spinal column, which can cause irreparable harm to health over time, says the company.

According to Admetec, the prolonged use of ergo loupes can intuitively and subconsciously train clinicians to maintain correct head positioning and correct posture.

As ergo loupes are TTL (through-the-lens) loupes that enable a real declination angle up to 80 degrees, this high angle flexibility and low weight compensate for the head inclination, thereby reducing the load on the cervical spine during long working hours.

Unlike conventional TTL magnifying glasses, ergo loupes also help to direct the eyes optimally. This increases the comfort of the clinician and reduces eye fatigue when undertaking long, complex surgical procedures.
