THE PHILIPPINES: The FBM Foundation undertook proactive measures in Rizal, Philippines, from February 17 to 18. The foundation aimed to assist residents of May-iba Burol Teresa and Sitio Tawid Tawid through a series of initiatives focused on spreading hygiene kits, providing useful instructions, and offering free dental services within the community.
Champion Volunteers Lead the Effort
For the second consecutive year, 20 Champion volunteers spearheaded insightful sessions and distributed oral health care kits to enhance awareness about dental hygiene. This year’s campaign comprised two main actions, with the first held in May-iba Burol Teresa and the second in Sitio Tawid Tawid.
The initial initiative on February 17 in May-iba Burol Teresa involved the distribution of 250 oral health care kits among residents. The following day, February 18, witnessed the provision of free dental services, including cleanings and basic extractions, to locals in Sitio Tawid Tawid, Antipolo. Additionally, an extra 250 oral health care kits were disbursed to the community.
Leadership and Collaboration
Pepe Costa, representing the FBM Foundation, alongside Lulu Barreras, the Community Service Project Coordinator, led the team of volunteers, ensuring the success of both programs. These initiatives were made possible through a collaborative partnership with the League of Community Unity & Support (LOCUS), an organization dedicated to holistic development and sustainable initiatives.
The FBM Foundation’s efforts extend beyond addressing immediate dental needs. Through the distribution of oral health care kits and sponsorship of free dental services, the organization aims to empower individuals to take charge of their oral health in the long run.
Last year’s dental health awareness initiatives, held in Subic, operated under the motto “Happy smile, happy life.” Collaborating with the Foundation of Our Lady of Peace Mission Inc., the organization distributed donations and brought joy to children in the Aeta Resettlement Area, according to a statement from the foundation.
The FBM Foundation’s commitment to promoting dental awareness underscores its dedication to improving oral health and empowering communities in Rizal, Philippines, and beyond.
