The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver, known for his stellar performances during his four seasons with the team, passed away on September 12 after being hospitalized due to injuries sustained in a construction accident while working as an electrician.

Football Career Highlights

Drafted from Syracuse in 2010, Williams made a significant impact during his rookie season with the Buccaneers, leading the team with 11 touchdowns and accumulating 964 receiving yards. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s preliminary report indicates that Williams’ demise resulted from bacterial sepsis stemming from a dental infection, further complicated by “retained tooth roots.” The comprehensive autopsy, including toxicology and additional details, is anticipated to be released later. The medical examiner’s findings mark the first instance in Hillsborough County attributing a death to this specific type of dental sepsis.

Cardiovascular Disease Contributed to the Tragedy

The initial report also notes cardiovascular disease as a contributing factor in Williams’ untimely death, categorized as natural. This tragic incident underscores the potential severity of dental health issues and their impact on overall well-being.
