ZuluKorea: Neodex has created a one-person dental treatment system called “Hippo-D” as an alternative to address the shortage of dental workers and prevent infections.
The device is a suction-coupled opening aid that combines a suction device and a part capable of pulling soft tissue. It allows the operator to use both hands freely without the help of treatment assistants, making it easy to open and close during treatment.

A recent study revealed that many dental practices are struggling due to the shortage of dental workers, and Hippo-D was created as a new concept product for building a one-person medical treatment system.

The device can be used for most dental treatments such as periodontal or prosthetic, ensuring a wide field of view and reducing the burden of treatment for patients, says Neodex.

Comfortable and Easy-to-Use
According to a press release, the device also provides comfort to operators as it eliminates the need for left-hand mirror retraction, enabling them to concentrate on treatment. Hippo-D is reportedly easy to use and can be connected to all unit chair suction line adapters, designed to be applied to both large and small suction tubes.
It also minimizes unnecessary motion during single-person treatment, and its compact design allows for storage without occupying space next to the chair.
An official from Neodex said, “Recently, Hippo-D has emerged as an alternative to build a one-person medical treatment system in Korea and is gaining great interest.” The company is also preparing for export and has secured price competitiveness with 100% domestic production.
