The tomas^®-system has been one of the leading skeletal anchorage systems for many years. Users value its easy, clearly structured handling and high reliability. The tomas^®-pin EP (Elastic Palatal) and a selection of abutments are available for direct and indirect coupling, extending thereby the range of treatment possibilities with the tomas^®-system, especially its use in the palate. They can be inserted either between the roots in the vestibular area, in the palatal region or directly on the alveolar ridge, for example as a temporary implant. The tomas^® -pin head serves as an anchorage point for the various coupling elements to move teeth or to support tooth movement.

The tomas^®-pin SD has a 22 cross slot so the pin head can also serve as a standard bracket during treatment. The coupling elements (square wires, springs etc.) can be fixed using a drop of adhesive which can easily be removed with Weingart pliers when treatment has finished. Both versions of the tomas^®-pin are available in 6, 8 und 10 mm length and can be delivered either sterile or non-sterile. The self-drilling thread eliminates the need for any pre-drilling, although it may prove necessary to perforate the cortical bone. After half a turn, the pin tip penetrates the bone without the need for excessive force. 

The gingival collar is conical-shaped and is machine-polished. It allows optimal, close gingival adaptation, thereby preventing unwelcome irritation to the gingiva. This, in turn, guarantees a high level of primary stability in the bone. Both pins have a hexagon over which the abutments can be slid and locked in place by means of an innovative snap mechanism.
