USA: Monica Davis, the proprietor of The Veneer Experts, is under police investigation after allegations surfaced regarding her unlicensed dental practice and scam veneer business.
Registered in July 2023, The Veneer Experts is now the subject of scrutiny following reports of severe dental issues experienced by patients, including complications arising from braces offered by Davis.
Allegations of Misconduct
Monica Davis allegedly operated her sham dental business under the guise of “changing lives one smile at a time,” primarily marketing her services on TikTok. However, patients like Monica Bailey and her 15-year-old daughter have reported distressing experiences, with Bailey expressing her fear and disappointment, stating, “I’m just hoping that we can have a positive outcome.”
Patients who sought dental services from The Veneer Experts have reported issues ranging from decaying veneers to braces falling out. Ralph Jones, one such patient, recounted his experience of waking up to a chipped tooth after receiving veneers from Davis. Lindsay Wagahoff from the Illinois State Dental Society emphasized the importance of dental licenses, stating, “A license ensures that the person has had a high level of quality of education and training.”
Launch of Investigations
The alarming allegations against The Veneer Experts have prompted both state authorities and a suburban police department to initiate investigations. Dr. Laura Zalay, a licensed dentist, expressed grave concerns for Davis’ patients, particularly regarding potential gum tissue damage and the ineffectiveness of improperly installed braces.
Monica Davis declined to comment on the allegations against her business when approached by CBS 2. She is scheduled to appear in court in Las Vegas in May, and there are indications that she may also face legal proceedings in Illinois. The Veneer Experts were asked to vacate their office in Schaumburg following numerous complaints from dissatisfied customers.
The ongoing investigation into The Veneer Experts highlights the importance of ensuring regulatory compliance and patient safety within the dental profession. Further developments are expected as authorities delve deeper into the allegations against Monica Davis and her unlicensed dental practice.
