New Ivoclar-exocad collab for dentures

Ivoclar announced plans to expand its strategic partnership with exocad, extending options for digital dentures through exocad’s DentalCAD software integration.

The exocad DentalCAD is an open-source, OEM-branded dental CAD software for dental restoration design.

In October, the software will feature an add-on module with the Ivotion Denture System, Ivoclar Vivadent’s award-winning complete processing chain for the digital production of removable dentures. The system features the CAD/CAM disc Ivotion, which allows individual monolithic prostheses to be manufactured in a single milling procedure.

According to a press release from Ivoclar, the integration of Ivotion Denture add-on module in exocad’s DentalCAD software will provide users with an efficient manufacturing workflow for digital fabrication of superior quality, removable dentures.

New tools in familiar environment

The DentalCAD software users will also be able to digitally design their dentures in a familiar environment, with an improved workflow that allows custom fabrication. The integration also provides access to Ivoclar’s tooth libraries with full-arch setups, morphing tools, and setup features.

According to the press statement, the Ivotion Denture add-on module contains all the features of the oversize workflow in combination with Ivotion Base, Ivotion Dent, and Ivotion Dent Multi discs. Also on board are all the available features of the monolithic workflow with Ivotion and Shell Geometry. For better customization, the third gingival shade introduced for the first time last year will also be available to users.

Monolithic fabrication of complete dentures

One of the key elements of the Ivotion Denture System is the Ivotion disc, that is used in monolithic fabrication of complete dentures. Combining tooth and denture base materials in a single disc, Ivotion disc eliminates the usual cementation resulting in a longer lifespan and faster fabrication.

Thanks to its open structure, the exocad DentalCAD can be easily integrated with existing systems in the Ivoclar range of PrograScan laboratory scanners and PrograMill milling machines.

The PrograScan PS5 laboratory scanner allows scanning of conventional impressions with high-resolution results. The Ivoclar PrograScan scanning software provides intuitive handling for preparing the fabrication of digital dentures as well as a guided scan workflow.

Logical workflow

According to Ivoclar, their product integration with the design options of the exocad DentalCAD software will provide users a logical workflow that eases the design phase and subsequent fabrication.

Ivotion was awarded the Innovation Prize at the “Dental Forum 2022” in Paris as well as the prize for best dental technology product at “KRAKDENT 2022” in Kraków.

The Ivotion Denture add-on module will be available in October 2022.
