KSO appoints In-su Kim as new president

South Korea: Dr In-su Kim, Director of Happy Smile Dental Clinic, was appointed as the 16th president of the Korean Society of Clinical Orthodontists (KSO).

The Society marked its 30th anniversary this year. What began as a gathering of overseas-trained orthodontists is today an established group consisting of dentists that graduated from local universities.

“In the dental field, it is necessary to establish a ‘medical delivery system’ dedicated to the treatment of one’s major field of expertise,” says Chairman Kim.

“In addition, we will do our best to strengthen communication among members and meet their needs.”

Revealing plans to establish a medical delivery system within the dental industry, he adds:

“Since its establishment 30 years ago, KSO has advocated the opening of a campus alone as a condition for membership. It was an unfamiliar concept at the time.”

“If you are an orthodontist, I think it is right to invite a Fellow in other medical subjects. It is in line with the purpose of the implementation of the specialist system, and I believe that the department of orthodontics, oral surgery, and paediatric dentistry can be implemented immediately.”

He also announced a plan to expand the base to the overseas correctional community.

KSO has continued to cooperate with the Japanese Society of Orthodontists. The plan is to maintain a closer relationship with Japan, but also seek exchanges with the United States.

“We plan to promote this as a two-track project, including exchanges with the local restorative community in California and forming a network with Korean restorative professors in the United States,” he says.

“Exchange with Japan is now possible through online academic conferences, allowing you to access high-quality content for free without having to go to Japan. In the future, we are also looking for ways to select excellent Japanese lectures and provide them with an interpreter service.”

In addition, KSO plans to publish a history book to commemorate its 30th anniversary this year. Chairman Kim will serve in his position as KSO president for two years.
