US: A man has been arrested by the Danbury police on Sunday for allegedly operating an illegal dental clinic within the La Quinta Hotel. The suspect has been identified as Hugo Moraes-DeLima and has been charged with practicing dentistry without a license and illegally selling prescription drugs.
Unlicensed Dental Procedures
Police were alerted to the illegal activity after receiving reports that an occupant of the hotel was practicing dentistry. Upon arriving at the hotel, police found Moraes-DeLima, who denied having completed any procedures, instead claiming to be conducting dental referrals.
However, upon entering his hotel room, officers discovered a fully operational dental setup, complete with dental drills, suction machines, and a portable X-Ray machine. The officers also found numerous bottles of amoxicillin and other medications.
While speaking with Moraes-DeLima, they noticed a male with a mouth full of gauze exit the room’s bathroom, who reported that he had undergone a dental procedure.
Moraes-DeLima is being held on a $350,000 bond.
