INDIA: The Yenepoya Dental Education Unit, in collaboration with the Yenepoya Centre for Faculty Development, successfully inaugurated the inaugural virtual international dental education conference, ‘VIDYEN,’ held from October 10 to 12.
The VIDYEN conference aimed to provide a platform for dental academicians to explore the latest trends and technologies in teaching and learning. Organised by the Yenepoya Dental College, the conference featured a series of thought-provoking sessions and discussions.
Keynote Addresses
The inaugural program, which took place on October 11, was graced by esteemed individuals from the field of education and dental science. Dr. Vidya S Bhat, the organizing secretary, warmly welcomed attendees to the event. Dr. T P Sethumadhavan, former Vice Chancellor of the Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University and professor at the Transdisciplinary University of Health Sciences & Technology, Bengaluru, as well as a consultant for World Bank Education & Career Consultant, delivered the chief guest address.
Dr. Sethumadhavan highlighted the importance of universities adapting to new trends and embracing innovative teaching and learning methodologies.
Dr. Gangadhar Somayaji, Registrar of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) and the patron of the conference, acknowledged the university’s vital role in advancing teaching and learning activities. He also commended the dedicated efforts of the organizing unit. Dr. Sham S Bhat discussed the implications of the New Education Policy, emphasizing the necessity for curricular changes.
Dr. Hasan Sarfaraz extended best wishes for the success of the conference. Dr. Laxmikanth Chatra, in his presidential address, praised the Yenepoya Dental Education Unit for pioneering a conference tailored exclusively for dental academicians.
