Marna Launches Two “Fit Toothbrushes” for Japanese Dental Needs

Japan: Marna, a household goods manufacturer based in Tokyo, is set to release two new toothbrushes designed to cater to Japanese people’s unique dental needs. The toothbrushes were developed in collaboration with an orthodontist who has over 30 years of experience in treating different tooth alignments.

Designed to Eliminate Unpolished Teeth

According to the company, Japanese people have a higher prevalence of uneven teeth compared to Western countries due to their skeletal features, and fewer people receive orthodontic treatment. To address this issue, Marna has developed two types of “fit toothbrushes” that are designed to eliminate unpolished teeth.

The “curved fit toothbrush” features a “back tooth fit design” that aims to thoroughly remove plaque between uneven teeth and deep inside the back teeth. The brush’s upper part has a slanted shape that reaches the back of the teeth for effective cleaning.

On the other hand, the “tapered fit toothbrush” features a “gap fit design” that gently removes dirt between teeth. The brush’s top has “tapered bristles” with thin bristles that massage the gums while scraping out plaque.

Trapezoidal Head Shape to Clean Back Teeth

Both toothbrushes have a compact trapezoidal head shape that reportedly allows for easy cleaning of the back teeth. The handle contains plant-derived resources, reducing the amount of plastic used by about 10%, and comes in gray and white colors.

The fit toothbrush curve and fit toothbrush tapered are priced at 398 yen (US$3) each and are made of polypropylene for the handle and nylon for the hair. The fit toothbrush tapered also includes saturated polyester resin in its materials.

According to Marna’s corporate philosophy of “Design for Smiles, making life better,” the company seeks to deliver exciting moments that have not yet been met, staying close to the people who live there. The release of these toothbrushes is in line with this philosophy, as it seeks to improve the dental hygiene of Japanese people and contribute to their well-being.
