Nigerian Dental Technology College Refutes Allegations of Fraud and Nepotism

NIGERIA: The Federal College of Dental Technology, Enugu, has strongly rejected allegations of fraud, nepotism, and job racketeering circulating in reports. In a statement signed by Omololu Philip Ogunmade, the Public Relations Officer, the college deemed the accusations as baseless and malicious.

The college expressed its dissatisfaction with what it considers “spurious and malicious” allegations, asserting that these accusations have been recycled repeatedly. Ogunmade commented, “We would have thought that those behind these allegations would change their failed strategy, but because they have run out of fabrications’ initiative, they keep moving in a vicious cycle.”

Rector’s Proactive Response

According to Ogunmade, the Rector, Prof. John Emaimo, had addressed similar allegations in July, engaging with faculty deans, directors, heads of departments, and units. The outcome of these meetings reportedly resulted in a clean bill for the Rector. Ogunmade added, “In his determination to prove his innocence, the Rector went beyond laying issues bare before workers in the College as he approached an appropriate security agency where he tabled the allegations.”

The college emphasised that the allegations are currently under investigation by a security agency. The statement invites the public to disregard the claims and expresses confidence that the ongoing investigation will reveal the truth.

Clearing Specific Allegations

Addressing specific allegations, the college refuted claims of nepotism and job racketeering, stating that the recruitment in 2020 followed due process. Additionally, they clarified that IPPIS (Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System) cannot be manipulated, and promotion arrears are paid as approved.

The statement highlights that the college undergoes yearly audits conducted by various government agencies, ensuring transparency in its financial transactions.

The Federal College of Dental Technology, Enugu, urged the public and college community to maintain confidence in the institution.
