NUS Faculty of Dentistry Researchers Receive Prestigious International Awards

SINGAPORE: Assistant Professors Gopu Sriram and Nileshkumar Dubey from the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Faculty of Dentistry have been honored with the prestigious International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Awards for their exceptional contributions to dental, oral, and craniofacial research. These awards celebrate scientific excellence and innovation aimed at improving global health and well-being.

Exceptional Achievements

Assistant Professor Gopu Sriram has been awarded the IADR Periodontal Research Group Award for his groundbreaking work in periodontal research.

His innovative use of microfluidic organ-on-chip technologies has led to the development of miniature ‘gingival crevice-on-chip’ and ‘gingiva-on-chip’ devices. According to Asst Prof Sriram, “The IADR Periodontal Research Group Award is a testament to our team’s dedication towards advancing periodontal and peri-implant disease prevention and treatment.”

Asst Prof Sriram’s expertise in both dentistry and biomedical engineering has positioned him at the forefront of microfluidic organ-on-chip systems development. His work not only revolutionizes dental research but also provides more physiologically relevant models for studying oral diseases and advancing drug discovery.

Assistant Professor Nileshkumar Dubey has secured the 2nd place in the IADR Joseph Lister Award for New Investigators for his pioneering research in 3D printable bioink for dental tissue regeneration. Asst Prof Dubey shared, “The IADR Joseph Lister Award for New Investigators is a tremendous honour. This is a great encouragement for me and my team to pursue cutting-edge research that will eventually benefit patients with dental and craniomaxillofacial traumatic injuries and bone defects.”
