Operation Smile UAE Completes 14th Surgical Programme at Healthpoint Abu Dhabi

UAE: Operation Smile UAE recently concluded its 14th surgical programme in the UAE at Healthpoint in Abu Dhabi, providing 19 children from various nationalities with free and safe surgery for their cleft lip or cleft palate. This initiative marks a significant milestone in improving the lives of these children and granting them a new smile.

Partnership and Collaboration

Healthpoint has been a partner with Operation Smile since 2020, hosting its sixth mission at its facilities. Over the course of these missions, more than 73 patients across different age groups have undergone life-changing transformations. The recent two-day surgical event involved the collaboration of over 45 medical professionals, including nurses, pediatricians, surgeons, and anesthetists, who volunteered their expertise to ensure the success of the initiative.

Omar Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer of Healthpoint, expressed pride in contributing to the community and offering transformative surgeries. He emphasized the importance of these procedures in enabling patients to lead healthier and happier lives, highlighting the dedication of the volunteers in providing exceptional care reflective of Healthpoint’s commitment to world-class medical care.

Morag Cromey-Hawke, Executive Director of Operation Smile UAE, expressed gratitude to the medical volunteers, Healthpoint staff, management, and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi for their support. She emphasized the positive impact of these surgeries, enabling patients to eat, drink, speak, and socialize, ultimately leading to healthier and happier lives. The partnership with Healthpoint has provided excellent facilities for patients and demonstrated generosity and care towards their well-being.

Foundation’s Support

Founded in 2011 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Alyazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Operation Smile UAE has screened over 300 patients with cleft conditions in the UAE. 

With the support of the foundation, 167 patients have received surgery followed by comprehensive care, including dental, nutrition, oral health, and speech therapy, highlighting the organization’s commitment to holistic patient care.
