Planet DDS Incorporates AI in Apteryx XVWeb

Planet DDS, a provider of cloud-based software solutions for dental practices, has recently unveiled the successful integration of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into its Apteryx XVWeb Dental Imaging Software. According to a press release, this innovation has already been implemented in over 200 dental office locations, including large-scale organizations with more than 60 locations.

Partnership with Overjet

The collaborative efforts between Planet DDS and Overjet, a dental AI solution provider, have made it possible to bring AI-analyzed images directly to the dental chairside.

The incorporation of AI into Apteryx XVWeb brings significant benefits to dental practices, including up to an 18% increase in production, says Planet DDS. This increase in productivity can also lead to enhanced provider-patient relationships, as dentists have more time to focus on patient interaction and personalized treatment plans.

Another key advantage of Apteryx XVWeb’s AI capabilities is the ability to easily view and share AI-analyzed images, says the company. Dentists can now highlight problem areas, such as cavities and bone loss, with more accurate visual aids. This feature has reportedly been proven to boost case acceptance rates by up to 21%, as patients can better understand their dental conditions and the importance of recommended treatments.

Client Testimonial

One notable adopter of this technology is Willis & Associates Family Dentistry, a rapidly expanding dental group.

With 14 locations and ongoing growth, Dr James Willis, Founder and CEO of Willis & Associates Family Dentistry, recognized the need for an innovative solution to streamline their imaging processes and enhance patient care. The implementation of Apteryx XVWeb with AI in their practices has yielded positive outcomes for both patients and staff.

Dr Willis enthusiastically expressed the impact of the AI capability, stating, “The AI capability is a game changer. We use it to show cavities and bone loss as we walk our patients through it. Patients love it because it’s an objective look at their X-rays, so it’s increasing case acceptance for our group. It also helps doctors diagnose consistently. I absolutely love it, and so does our team.”

Utilizing Apteryx XVWeb with AI, Dr Willis and his team have been able to provide enhanced transparency and consistency to their patients during X-ray reviews and treatment plan discussions. The AI capability is said to seamlessly integrate with the Denticon practice management solution, offering convenient access to AI-analyzed X-rays within the viewer.

Improving Patient Education and Outcomes

The integration of AI technology has so far provided significant advantages, including increased case acceptance, consistent diagnoses, and enhanced imaging workflows across locations. Planet DDS expects this feature will also prove to be a powerful tool for patient education, empowering patients to make informed decisions.

“At Planet DDS, our mission is to deliver the latest advancements in dental technology to improve patient care and help dental practices thrive,” said Eric Giesecke, CEO of Planet DDS.

“We’re thrilled to hear that our valued clients like Willis & Associates and many others are already seeing benefits and return on their technology investments as they improve patient outcomes.”
