Police Successfully Locate Misplaced Dental Accessories Worth ₹3.5 Million in Bhayander

India: Less than a week after dental surgery equipment worth ₹35 lakh (US$42.6k) went missing in Bhayander, Maharashtra’s Thane district, the local police have successfully recovered the misplaced accessories. Dr Sachin Duggad, a dental surgeon from Nashik, had brought the equipment to the Healthy Smile Dental Clinic in Bhayander for a surgical procedure.

Car Mix-Up

Following the surgical procedure on June 12, Dr Duggad requested a clinic employee, Dhanashree Shirke, to place the medical accessories in his Honda City car. Unfortunately, due to a mix-up, the accessories were mistakenly placed in another car of the same make and model parked nearby. This error was discovered when the doctor realized the equipment was missing, leading him to promptly file a complaint with the Navghar police.

Under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Vijay Pawar, the crime detection teams initiated investigations promptly. To aid their search, approximately 55 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were meticulously reviewed. Through careful analysis, the police identified the car where the equipment had been unintentionally placed. The owner of the car was completely unaware of the presence of the dental accessories.

Successful Recovery

With the diligent efforts of the police, the misplaced dental accessories worth ₹35 lakh were successfully located and recovered. The equipment was promptly returned to its rightful owner, Dr Sachin Duggad. The dental surgeon expressed his gratitude to the police officials for their swift action and resolution of the matter.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper handling and storage of valuable medical equipment to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
