Poppits introduces PopGel, a plastic-free dental care system

Poppits, a dental care company, has introduced a new solution to the problem of plastic waste in the dental care industry. The company has developed PopGel, a complete dental care system that replaces plastic with more recyclable materials.

Recyclable aluminium toothpaste packaging

The foundation of the PopGel system is a toothpaste packaging strategy that reportedly delivers the first toothpaste products made entirely without plastic. Poppits has packed their dental cleaning supplies in 100% recyclable aluminium tubes with recyclable black aluminium covers rather than conventional plastic tubes. Metal tubes have previously been utilised for items like medical creams and pureed foods, but they are less frequently employed in the toothpaste sector.

“We are excited to announce that we have completed the first phase of our journey with PopGel,” said Wayne Solan, Founder & Inventor of Poppits. “The world’s first 100% plastic-free toothpaste tubes which will help to reduce the 1.5 billion plastic toothpaste tubes that end up in landfills and oceans every year.”

A bamboo toothbrush, dental floss, and three different types of toothpaste are all included in the PopGel system. The toothpaste, developed by dentists, is available in Mild Mint Sensitive, Peppermint Super Whitening, and Cucumber Spearmint Whitening.

Toothpaste pods

While the introduction of the plastic-free toothpaste tubes is a significant achievement for Poppits, they still have many more eco-friendly oral hygiene items in the works. They have also been working on toothpaste that comes in pod-like packaging.

Poppits expects that the pods will make it simpler to eliminate plastic from regular dental care by reducing the messiness of traditional toothpaste and optimising the quantity required for each brushing. “This will take the delivery system to the next level and will be truly revolutionary,” Solan said.

Along with the toothpaste, Poppits also sells a bamboo toothbrush made without plastic and plastic-free corn fibre dental floss that is packaged in a little glass bottle.
