Korea: In an effort to improve oral health for individuals with disabilities, the Purme Dental Center entered into a business agreement with Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital.
The ceremony, attended by prominent figures from both organizations, including Baek Kyung-hak, a standing director of the Purme Foundation, and Choi Kyung-gyu, the director of the planning and clinical department, emphasized the commitment to advancing the well-being of this underserved community.
Promoting Mutual Exchange and Collaboration
The partnership between the Purme Dental Center and Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital aims to contribute to the enhancement of oral health and overall quality of life for people with disabilities through close medical cooperation and mutual exchange.
Recognizing the importance of working together, the two institutions have pledged to strengthen their collaboration, establish a robust system for medical cooperation, business development, and operation, and foster effective information exchange and communication channels.
Extensive Research on Disabled Community’s Needs
Over the past few years, the Purme Dental Center and Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital have demonstrated their dedication to researching dental care for individuals with disabilities, says a press release. The Purme Dental Center, a subsidiary of the Purme Foundation, has been providing tailored programs and services for people facing challenges in managing oral hygiene or exhibiting behavioral difficulties. These initiatives encompass regular oral examinations and toothbrushing education, addressing the unique needs of the disabled community.
Director Hwang Ui-hwan of Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital emphasized their extensive clinical experience and research in the Disability Clinic, stating, “We will further develop cooperation with the Purme Dental Center to ensure that more disabled patients receive safe and comfortable treatment.”
Gaps in Healthcare for Individuals with Disabilities
Director Baek Han-seung of the Purme Dental Center acknowledged the ongoing struggle faced by many individuals with disabilities, remarking, “Many people with disabilities still suffer from serious oral diseases because it is difficult for them to manage oral hygiene or visit a dental clinic in a timely manner.”
He also expressed his confidence in the collaborative project, emphasizing their commitment to providing specialized treatment and addressing the existing gaps in healthcare for people with disabilities.
