QicoBay C1 auto-restringing flosser

QicoBay has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of the C1 portable flosser, a new flossing device designed to help eliminate plastic waste.

Billed as the world’s first auto-restringing flosser, the C1 is built for on-the-go dental hygiene with a simple design and easy-to-use functionality. Kickstarter backers can receive exclusive early bird discounts on the C1.

What’s currently on the market

The two main types of dental floss on the market are conventional floss and floss picks, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.

Made of nylon or other synthetic materials, conventional floss can be used multiple times and produces minimal plastic waste. However, it can be difficult to use. It requires users to wash their hands before and after using it to keep it clean. Conventional dental floss can also pose difficulties to the dexterously challenged, as they are typically awkward to hold and manoeuvre — while prone to accidentally cut the gums.

Floss picks although a bit easier to use, are not as portable as traditional floss. The single-use product does however, produce plastic waste. Floss picks are also hard to keep clean when on the go since they’re exposed to the air.

Simplicity meets environmental friendliness

Designed with both simplicity and environmental friendliness in mind, the QicoBay C1 flosser is made from recycled materials and can be reused multiple times. With the C1, there is no need to keep buying new plastic floss picks.

As such, the QicoBay C1 provides an effective way to floss while reducing environmental impact.
The C1 also features a self-sanitizing design, which helps to reduce the amount of waste that is produced. Users only need to push the Q-button to extend the head threaded with a fresh piece of floss, and they are ready to floss!

The sleek capsule container of the QicoBay C1 doubles as a long, ergonomic grip, enabling users to easily reach their back teeth.

Longer than standard floss, the 10.5cm wide flosser allows easier access to those hard-to-reach molars. Push the button again to easily retract and sterilize when you’re done flossing.

Auto floss restringing system

The C1 automatically strings itself at a push of the Q-button. The QicoBay C1 features a floss system that contains built-in tension control, allowing for a gentle flossing action that is effective yet gentle on the gums.

QicoBay’s functional and hygienic design features space for new and used portions of floss to keep them separate and easy to access. The silver ion antimicrobial material protects against bacteria and other microorganisms.

The protective case pops on to keep dust and other germs out of the QicoBay C1 when it is not in use. Each floss capsule contains enough floss for 100 uses and is replaceable. The case itself is made from recyclable materials and comes in a variety of colours.
