Neocis launches commercial robotic implant workflow

Neocis has announced the commercial availability of its YomiPlan Go robotic workflow. YomiPlan Go works with the larger YomiPlan suite of software and Yomi, a robotic surgical system that helps clinicians during implant placement.

While it previously had a limited market release – during which YomiPlan Go was used for both partially and fully edentulous cases – YomiPlan Go received the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance in June, following a successful clinical study.

With Go, clinicians intra-operatively set the location and angulation of the implant using the drill tip. According to Neocis, this combines freehand surgery with precise robotic guidance.

Dr Guillermo Chacon was a participant in the early release during its limited market release.

“With YomiPlan Go, there’s no bouncing around as you drill up in sequence in fresh molar extraction sites, which can happen when placing implants freehand,” said Dr Chacon.

“This allows you to achieve a more reproducible position without sacrificing time.”

Yomi is touted as dentistry’s first and only robotic surgical system. Operating within the YomiPlan software suite and robotic guidance of surgical instrumentation, Yomi is designed to assist clinicians during all phases of implant placement via interactive digital planning.

The new YomiPlan Go workflow eliminates the need for a CT scan or virtual treatment planning. According to Neocis, this allows clinical teams to streamline preoperative processes and get into surgery more quickly.

Doctors are able to set the location and angulation of an implant intraoperatively using their drill tip while Go offers the speed and flexibility of freehand surgery – combined with the precise control of robotic guidance.

Other highlighted features include:

  • The Yomi robotic arm helps to stabilise the position and angulation set for an osteotomy. As one moves through their drill sequence, this affords precise, reproducible results.
  • The clinical team can automatically determine osteotomy depth and prevent over-drilling by entering the basic implant and drill bit specifications to the system. A depth-offset tool may also be utilized to accomodate gingival thickness or subcrestal implant placement.
  • Users can parallelize multiple implants for more straightforward prosthesis creation and placement.

The YomiPlan suite offers users a choice of three software modes, giving clinical teams the flexibility to choose their preferred robotic workflow.
