Sabah’s first South Korean dental clinic opens

Malaysia: The MIR Dental Clinic officially opened in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, in an event attended by Malaysia’s Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

The MIR Dental Clinic is the first international franchise dental centre to be set up in Malaysia, said the South Korea-based MIR Dental Hospital Group, which owns the franchise.

Led by implantology professor Dr Park Kwang Bum and dental laser expert Prof Dr Tan Kai Seng, the MIR Dental Clinic in Kota Kinabalu is a multi-million dollar investment boasting cutting edge equipment and a modern dental healthcare system.

Part of medical tourism drive

According to Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, the Clinic’s establishment is part of the State Government’s effort to attract more foreign direct investment into Sabah in a bid to promote medical tourism, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan.

“Now, with the presence of the first international franchise of MIR Dental Hospital Group from South Korea in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, with its cutting-edge and innovative dental healthcare system, I believe it has moved us one step closer to the international platform,” he said.“This is a milestone for us to go forward.”

Largest and most complete dental services

According to the MIR Group, the Dental Clinic provides the largest and most complete dental services in Malaysia, including: Full mouth digital implant (painless and minimally invasive laser treatment); laser assisted periodontal treatment; full mouth orthodontics; full mouth digital aesthetic design veneer; crown restoration; zirconium root canal treatment; past crown removal; calculus removal; tooth extraction; computer-made dentures; paediatric dentistry; geriatric dentistry.

Dr Joachim further congratulated Dr Tan, the managing director cum principal of MIR Malaysia Dental Group, on the successful opening while acknowledging the clinic’s contribution to the State.

 “I was made to understand that this clinic brings in top-notch dental healthcare system from Korea and digitalised dental treatment,” he said.

More than 100 invited guests from Korean, Taiwan and Singapore attended the opening event, including: Luyang Assemblyman, Ginger Phoong; Likas Assemblyman, Tan Lee Fatt; Political Secretary to the Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Dr Roland Chia; Chairman of MegaGen Global Group, Dr Park; Consul General Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Sabah and Sarawak, Joo Joong-Chun.
