San Diego Dentist Fatally Shot by Disgruntled Patient

USA: The San Diego dental community is reeling from a devastating incident in which a dentist, Benjamin Harouni (pictured), was fatally shot by a disgruntled former patient. The shooting occurred on February 29, with the assailant unloading at least 23 rounds into Harouni’s office before fleeing the scene.

Harouni’s tragic death has left a profound impact, with his mother, Hilda, expressing her grief, stating, “The loss is something I cannot explain… It really feels like there is a hole in my heart.” Two others present in the dental office were also injured and hospitalized in serious condition.

Swift Action by Law Enforcement

Mohammed Abdulkareem, 29, was swiftly apprehended and charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with the shooting. San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan emphasized the importance of seeking justice for the victims and their families, commending the efforts of law enforcement in making a swift arrest.

In response to the tragedy, a fundraising campaign titled “Hearts Over Hate” was initiated by Harouni’s brother, Jake, to support families affected by violent crimes. The campaign has garnered significant support, with over $56,000 raised so far.

Prosecutors revealed that Abdulkareem was a former patient of the dental office and had repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with his dental work over the past six months. He allegedly burst into the office and opened fire with a semiautomatic handgun.
