The upcoming dental facilities are slated to be located in Siburan, Serian, Tabuan Jaya, and Lawas, with Petra Jaya Hospital designated to provide specialist dental healthcare services. Addressing the dental needs of schoolchildren and rural communities remains a priority for the Sarawak government. Premier Abang Johari mentioned the presence of 151 school dental clinics statewide, offering annual dental care services to primary and secondary school students, teachers, and staff members.

Furthermore, he underscored the importance of outreach programs conducted by mobile dental squads, especially in districts without dental clinics. These initiatives aim to provide essential dental services to underserved populations, including rural communities and the Penan indigenous group.

Despite challenges posed by rugged terrain and limited resources in remote areas, efforts to extend oral health care services to the Penan community have shown significant progress. Premier Abang Johari highlighted the success of outreach programs, stating, “Through the outreach programme, 7.2 per cent of the Penan population utilised the dental services in 2022, and the coverage increased to 24 per cent in 2023.”
