INDIA: Sensodyne, a prominent oral care brand under the Haleon (formerly GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare) umbrella, has joined forces with the Indian Dental Association (IDA) to celebrate and acknowledge the vital role of dentists in safeguarding their patients’ oral health, especially on the occasion of World Dentist’s Day, celebrated on October 3rd.
First-of-Its-Kind Platform
To honour the contribution of these oral health experts within the dental community, Sensodyne and IDA have collaboratively created a pioneering platform. This platform provides dentists with an opportunity to engage in discussions about the latest advancements in the science of dentistry, empowering them to enhance patient outcomes significantly. Additionally, this platform was used to recognise and honour senior dentists for their exceptional contributions to the field of dentistry.
As part of this initiative, multiple conclaves have been organised in various cities. Participants engaged in discussions on critical oral health topics, the importance of proactive healthcare, and shared insights into some of the most challenging cases they’ve encountered. These discussions facilitated the identification of common issues and the exploration of innovative solutions.
Celebrating Exceptional Contributions
At the event, Dr. G Chandrasekhar, an Orthodontist with 31 years of remarkable contributions to dentistry, was honoured. He has previously served as the President of the Indian Orthodontic Society from 2016-2017, Secretary of IDA Andhra Pradesh in 1992, and twice as the President of the IDA Deccan branch.
Other senior dentists who attended the event included Dr. P. Karunakar, Principal of Paniniya College; Dr. K V Ramana Reddy, Principal of Malla Reddy College; Dr. Aditya Sandeep, MDS; Dr. Srilankanth, MDS; and Dr. YS Reddy, MDS.
Speaking about the partnership, Ms. Anurita Chopra, Head of Marketing, India Subcontinent, Haleon, stated, “Our mouth is the gateway to our entire body, making oral health integral to our overall well-being. Dentists play a crucial role in not only maintaining long-term health but also in enabling small joys that are possible thanks to good oral health. We are honoured to partner with the Indian Dental Association on World Dentist’s Day to recognise the invaluable contribution of dentists. We hope to raise awareness about the importance of regular dental appointments, motivating people to prioritize their oral health and nurture a healthier future for all.”
Dr. Ashok Dhoble, Hon. Secretary General, Indian Dental Association, added, “IDA is committed to increasing awareness of oral health in India. The focus on oral health should shift from curative to preventive. This conclave is a step toward acknowledging our esteemed dentists’ efforts in the field of oral health. It stands as a testament to both Haleon and IDA’s commitment to serving Indians by caring for their oral health.”
#DoctorsOfJoy
As a leading brand in sensitivity toothpaste, Sensodyne celebrated the significance of dentists on World Dentist’s Day by launching four short digital films under the theme #DoctorsOfJoy. These films, honouring the dentists’ role in bringing joy through good oral health, were presented at the conference.
